Hubject and ubitricity Collaborate to Drive Froward Charging Infrastructure with Europe's Largest E-roaming Network

Industry News – Friday, September 25, 2020

Charge Point Operator ubitricity owns the second largest billing network in the UK. Hubject provides standardized access for recharging electric vehicles through its eRoaming platform, called Intercharge. The two companies have now decided to work together across Europe to efficiently expand the charging infrastructure.

Starting in central London, ubitricity has teamed up with various partners over the past 18 months to install over 2,200 charging points. Today, 16 of 32 London boroughs have public charging stations mounted on street lamp posts. ubitricty CEO Lex Hartman commented on the collaboration with Hubject: " This collaboration gives ubitricity a boost to accelerate what we have been working on: open protocols, open standard charging infrastructure, and access for all EV drivers. EV charging of the future will be much easier for every driver than refueling a car with a combustion engine. With Hubject, we can now make our charge points available to an even wider range of EV drivers. All you need is a smartphone and a standard cable." Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject, added: "eMobility is a global trend – therefore I believe in global solutions which help to reduce the complexity for EV drivers – or to better use, an old statement: think global – act local – also for EV charging".
