Current status and prospects of BIPV: The Architecture Award Building-Integrated Solar Technology brings together the most interesting BIPV projects and highlights trends. Most notably are the advances in colored PV modules that will open up a wide range of potential applications for the technology in exposed urban locations, in listed buildings and sophisticated architectural designs. This also unlocks the huge market for thermal building renovations. The session also highlights the unique challenges of BIPV, which must meet both structural and electrical standards. A particular hurdle for PV module façades is fire safety. This session will present the status and trends in BIPV, documenting its evolution using a number of case studies.
