On the Road in Europe With an Electric Car? Where There Are the Most Charging Points

Industry News – February 19, 2024

There are no charging stations in the EU? That´s what you think! In 2023, the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the European Union once again recorded strong growth of almost 41% compared to the previous year. Belgium is a brand new addition to the top five. The relatively small country surprises with an increase of 89% and climbs to fourth place in the EU ranking, passing Scandinavian countries and Italy, which now occupies fifth place.

Germany, often the focus of criticism when it comes to the development of electric mobility infrastructure, takes over second place from France. A growth of 44 percent due to the installation of more than 120,000 publicly accessible charging points is driving progress. There is particular demand for DC charging stations. The Netherlands remains the frontrunner. E-mobilists there benefit from over 144,000 additional charging points.
