In theory, V2G plays a crucial role in the decentralized grid of the future. It will provide grid flexibility in a powermix mainly consisting of fluctuating renewables. Also it provides great potential to have end-users participating in the market. However we’ve been talking about it for years already. And we are still waiting for it to materialize beyond specific pilot cases or insular solutions. So where are we in 2023? How close are we to V2G becoming a daily reality? He has gained quite a broad energy background through his different positions within Siemens. He worked especially in the area of renewable energies during his time at Siemens Management Consulting. Later he became head of strategy for the Siemens Energy Transmission business and after that he was responsible for the Service business of Siemens Energy Transmission.
Thomas Gereke is Global eMobility Consultancy Practice Lead for planning and implementation of eMobility infrastructures with more than 12 years experience in this field. He has outstanding experience with global coordination, planning and implementation of eMobility infrastructures for municipalities, utilities (DSO), gas station operators, real estates and fleet operators. As part of his role, he led the eMobility IT architecture and process definition of the European project Green eMotion. The integration of renewable energy, the definition of the European ecosystem / interoperability and load management were an essential part of this.
