Bidirectional Charging: From Use Case to Economic Reality

5 talks. 75 minutes. Enhanced by live demonstrations in The Bidirectional Zone.

Bidirectional charging is no longer a future topic, it is becoming a structural building block of the energy market.

This session is linked to the special exhibition 'The Bidirectional Zone' (Hall C6, Booth 330), which not only demonstrates bidirectional technologies, but also provided the framework for a study conducted by the Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft (FfE). It delivers one of the first data-driven assessments of economic potential (ROI) for bidirectional applications across different vehicle classes and the potential of fleets.

The session is complemented by industry and market perspectives from players such as Last Mile Solutions and DEKRA.

Key topics include economic potential of electric fleets, dynamic tariffs in a European context, impact on EV battery systems and lifecycle, vehicle-to-Grid and real-world grid interaction.

For CPOs, fleet operators and investors, one message becomes clear: Bidirectional charging is no longer a technology question, it is a question of economic execution.
